National Novel Writing Month 2019
Wow, I’m very late in writing this one.
Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year?
I am.
Last year I wrote the rough bones of what was War of Avalon, the final novel in my science fiction series. It’s been re-titled, and I have a fairly clear beginning and ending in mind if not on paper. You should know how Arthurian legend ends, right?
This year, I’m doing something similar to my first novel, Fall to Earth. In that book, I wrote 50,000 words in my very first NaNoWriMo. Three years later, while deployed, I returned to that novel and wrote another 50,000 words, filling the gaps in the latter half of the book.
For War, this year’s NaNoWriMo, I’m writing the middle of my novel in 50,000 words. I wrote some of that, but there are a lot of missing scenes and pieces where the story hasn’t quite fallen into place. The original concept for the novel has shifted, so there are changes in the middle build that will ripple in successive revisions throughout.
Where am I now? I’m past the 30,000 word mark and still pushing ahead deep into the middle build of the novel. I’ve also passed the 500,000 word mark for the amount of total words written for NaNoWriMo since the beginning.
Where are you in your journey?
Is this your first NaNoWriMo?
Have you ever thought about writing your first novel in 30 days?
