PSL Update

The leaves are changing on the sycamore trees and the weather is cooling. Autumn is creeping in up here in the Northeastern US, or as I like to call it: Pumpkin Spice Latte Brand Awareness Month!

It’s been two months since my last update. I’m playing with the frequency of my blogging, trying to find the right balance of interesting content and updates. Some authors update weekly, but I’d rather spend the time writing another chapter in my current work instead of crafting a blog post. Feedback is welcome in the form of Goldilocks and the Three Bears—too much, too little, or just right.

I’ve read an eclectic assortment of books these last couple of months, from nonfiction to fiction to a couple of rereads. I didn’t read any indie books, which means I’m behind on my goal of reading a dozen indie published books this year. I’m reading Luna Missile Crisis by Rhett C. Bruno and Jamie Castle. It’s a fun alternate history dealing with the cold war/space race mixed with alien contact and conflict. I’m three quarters of the way through it and having a blast.

I also read my first Robin Hobb novel, Assassin’s Apprentice, and I was deeply immersed. Her narrative style and first person perspective are top notch. The story follows a more subtle story arc that’s not magnified outside of the bounds of the character Fitz Chivalry. If you haven’t given her work a chance, you should. Fair warning: if you are an animal lover, she’ll tug at your heartstrings.

I’m closing in on my reading goal for the year. I’ll start ramping up my Indie reading. If you’ve found you absolutely loved and have to share, let me know!

Also, I’m thinking of doing some brief book review videos—if you like the idea, drop me a note.

On the writing front, I have excellent news: Rise of Avalon is off to the copy editor. I will hand it off to my beta reader team to give it a read and tell me where the story may need some work. It’s been nearly a year of constant writing and revising, trying to land the ending meaningfully. It’s my first end to a series—I think I got it right.

But, in the meantime, enjoy the full gorgeous cover by my artist!

That’s it for this month or two. I am off to work on my next series and a short story treat just for you. There’s a lot to share about that in the coming months.

What are you reading? Leave a comment and let me know!

That’s it for now. Have a safe, enjoyable October!
