National Novel Writing Month 2018

NaNoWriMo is back again, and as I’ve done before, I’ll be doing it with a twist. Last year, I wrote a pretty rough draft of Matrix Trigger. That book is still in revision and is one of my most complex novels. I’ll be revising that through the end of the year to have it in the hands of beta readers and copy editing at the beginning of 2019.

What does that mean for NaNoWriMo 2018? I’ll be honest, while I don’t want to overextend myself doing revision and new writing, I will keep my goal for NaNoWriMo simple. 50,000 words of what’s likely to be the final novel in the series. That’s it, nothing more. As I’m quite practiced at reaching 50,000 words, I’m certain I can do it this year pretty easily. 2018 marks a decade since my very first NaNoWriMo that became Fall to Earth. I don’t know if I need to keep doing NaNoWriMo, but I’ll always support it as my personal Threshold into the Special World of the Novelist.

What are you doing this year?

Will you write that novel you’ve been dying to?

Or that non-fiction book you’ve wanted to get out?

November is a good time to put words to the page. Don’t look back until you’ve blazed a fifty thousand word trail.
